The History Of Data Deduplication
RecoverySoft / October 11, 2018

Data deduplication has been around, at least in its most primitive form, since the 1970’s. It initially started because companies wanted to store large amount of customer contact information without using a large amount of storage space. One of the first ideas was to go through and remove duplicate data. For example, a company might have an address for shipping, and an address for billing to a given customer. In these cases, those identical addresses would be combined into one file. This was done by data entry clerks who would review the data line by line and get rid of duplicates. Of course, the amount of personnel needed to do this was extensive and it took a very long time. Sometimes, the data deduplication process would take months to complete. However, considering that most of this occurred on hard copy, it wasn’t a major problem. The big problems cam along when computer use became widespread in office environments. With computers in wide use and the explosion of the internet, the amount of data available exploded as well. Backup systems were created to ensure that companies would not lose all their data. As time went by, floppy discs and other external…

EMFs – The Invisible Danger
RecoverySoft / June 16, 2018

Our environment is filled with invisible natural and non-natural electric and magnetic fields. The man-made electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) have been until recently largely ignored. A growing volume of research has heightened public awareness of the problem that EMFs may be negatively impacting the health and well-being of millions of people. EMFs have in common that they are all created by electrical devises in our houses, such as hair dryers, digital alarm clocks, toasters, coffee makers, TVs, or computers. The more you use these devices and the closer you are to them, the higher is your exposure to EMFs. EMFs behave differently however, in respect to other characteristics. As soon as your electrical device is plugged in, it is surrounded by an electrical field, even when switched off. In contrast, magnetic fields are only created when your device is switched on. In other words, magnetic fields are only present when electric current flows and the bigger the current the stronger the magnetic field. Furthermore electric and magnetic fields behave differently in relation to building materials. Fortunately most of the building materials shield electric fields to some extent however, magnetic fields are not attenuated by currently used materials. That means…

How to Retrieve Deleted Files Quickly
RecoverySoft / June 13, 2018

Have you ever deleted something and then instantly knew it was a mistake? Did you know that it is possible to retrieve deleted files? Many people already know that the first stop for a file is in the recycle bin. Maybe you did not know this, but it is very simple to locate your recycle bin and retrieve deleted files from it with a few clicks of your mouse. You simply need to minimize all open windows and programs so your desktop is visible. Now look for the recycle bin icon. Just double click on the icon for recycle bin. It will open, showing you all of your deleted files inside. Looking for your file, highlight it and right click it. You will then see a selection list of four separate choices. If you select “restore”, this will move your file back to its previous location. You can still retrieve deleted files that aren’t in the recycle bin anymore; however, this is a little bit more involved. Once a file is deleted from the bin, the operating system puts it back into free space on your hard drive. It does this by stripping all file extensions and then allocating that…

With the right tools, the cause of a BSOD can quickly be determined, or at least we can be pointed in the right direction, saving us hours of blind troubleshooting. Enter The Small Memory Dump Windows has the capability of–upon a system crash–dumping certain information from memory onto a file stored in your computer’s hard drive. Some of the tidbits Windows writes to this dump file include the following: The Stop message (such as KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED or IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). A list of drivers in use when the crash occurred. Information on what the CPU was doing when the crash occurred. What processes were running at the time. This information is written to a file with a DMP extension (for example, 082214-19328-01.dmp) and stored in C:WindowsMinidump. If you can’t find the Minidump folder it means the feature that writes debugging information is not enabled. To enable it you’ll need to do the following: Click on the Start…

Recovering MDF Data Post "Error 5101: Device Activation Error"
RecoverySoft / March 28, 2018

Like any other file, MDF file (MS SQL database file) can also be corrupted at any point in time. Few symptoms that help you to identify that the database file is corrupted are when you are unable to view all the records saved in database components, the database file does not open, or the database mounts in a suspected state. In most cases of MDF file corruption, the database administrator encounters an error message, which s/he tries to solve by executing DBCC CHECKDB command or by restoring file from an upgraded backup. DBCC CHECKDB command helps to repair MDF file in case of any logical corruption, and if the command fails then the administrator restores the data from an updated backup. However, the main problem arises only when there is no database backup availability. For such cases, the database administrator is only left with one option – a third party MDF recovery software. To practically explain the above discussion, here is an error message that appears after corruption of MDF file: “error 5101: Device activation error. The physical file name ‘C:%path to db%db_log.LDF ‘ may be incorrect. Then I get db Attach failed.” The above error message appears when the…

A very large percentage of the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors in our country are also Recovering Addicts. This certification became necessary, as so many Addicts inspired by the 12 Step Concept, want to "give back" what they have acquainted that changed their lives for the better, and in many cases "saved their life"! I can only speak for myself, but approaching 10 years as a counselor, I believe myself to to represent the profile of very many counselors. I certainly have had issues that refer back to childhood personality problems like, shyness, insecure, and fear. As a child I was very small. I began school, 1st grade, at only 5 years old, in rural Missouri. My family relocated from there to California whan I was eight. When I graduated from 8th grade I was 4'8 "tall and weighed a mere 78 pounds. I had already spent 2 years in over-achievement, with a great degree of success. . A benefit that came with that success, at that time, was that girls approached me, in spite of the…
