Financial Recovery Means a Change in Life's Priorities
RecoverySoft / October 10, 2018

It seems everyday there is some reason to expect the economy is not improving. Today there is discussion of a double-dip recession. That is another way of saying the recent improvement is more of a mini bubble that has to pop before the real recovery begins. That is fine and dandy if you're an economist watching in fascination as your theories and graphs are proven, altered or not as the case may be. What on earth does the regular guy on the street do? With big money being shoveled to every major corporation even while the same corporations are laying people off. Those are some pretty ugly pictures. The reality is we individually can not do anything about big corporations moves or the unpredictability of government action. We can do what we can do. Let's focus on that. I have heard, because I do not know fact, that money is the cause of more divorces than anything else. The odd part is not enough money has the same effect as too much money. It tears people and families apart. That is something we can do something about. So first we agree that we have to do something to keep family's…

RecoverySoft / August 16, 2018

If you have multiple computers at home and want to network them together to share files and devices then this article is for you! In this article I'll show how to setup file sharing in a mixed environment maintaining Windows 7 and Windows XP. The computer that will be sharing (serving) the files will be the Windows 7 computer. Since you're reading this article it's pretty safe to assume that you have no idea what I'm talking about in point B. Just go ahead and turn off your firewalls (for now at least). On your Windows 7 computer: 1. Click the Windows globe on the bottom left (the old start button). 2. Right-click "Computer" and click properties. 3. Take note of the Workgroup name. Data Recovery Services – Be Wary of Cheap Prices
RecoverySoft / July 5, 2018

Data recovery is a specialized, complicated process. Proper hard drive recovery can require manipulation of data at the sector level, transplantation of internal components and various other procedures. These techniques are very involved and require not only talented, knowledgeable technicians, but also an extensive inventory of disk drives to use for parts when necessary and clean facilities to conduct the work. Unfortunately these factors mean that, in most cases, recovery services are quite expensive. Technician training, hard drive inventories and special equipment all come with a cost. If you search for disk recovery services, you will likely find several smaller companies that offer hard disk data recovery for a fraction of the prices usually quoted by larger, more experienced organizations. These companies often operate from small offices or, in some cases, private homes. They do not possess clean room facilities, large disk drive inventories or many other pieces of equipment necessary to successfully complete most hard drive recovery cases. When you take into account all of the training, parts and facilities necessary, you can see how it is impossible for a company to charge $200 for a hard drive recovery and not operate at a loss. What these companies usually…

Enhanced Oil Recovery, Secondary, and Tertiary Recovery
RecoverySoft / June 12, 2018

Did you know that much of the oil in the ground is still present after primary recovery? In the kings english, that means there is still a lot of oil left in a well even after 10 years of pumping. The reason oil production slows is that the natural drive that once pushed oil aggressively towards the wellbore has subsided. Normally, the natural drive is either water or gas in the formation. In this article, we look to explain some of the common enhanced or secondary/tertiary methods of oil recovery. With oil hitting new highs every day, it is clear the cost benefit of utilizing technology to get at extra production makes sense. When oil was in the $10-20 range, the incremental cost of some enhanced oil recovery methods did not make economic sense. One of the most common secondary recovery methods is a waterflood. Essentially, a waterflood is a reintroduction of water into the formation to create a drive to push more oil towards the wellbore. To increase the efficiency of a waterflood, new methods utilize Alkaline-Surfactant-Polymer floods and some explorers are introducing microbes into the wellbore to increase the sweep efficiency of the flood, both methods have been…

People in the computer age would often work with plenty of computer files in their day-to-day operations. Cognitive Skills Retraining & Recovery
RecoverySoft / April 2, 2018

After a serious accident that involves trauma to the brain, it is often necessary for a patient to undergo cognitive skills retraining. This is a therapeutic process with the goal of improving memory, attention span, organization, problem solving and decision making skills. In some cases, the goal of the retraining will be a complete recovery while in other more severe situations the goal will be more modest, perhaps just to return the person to a functional state and improve their quality of life. Cognitive skills retraining programs must be individually designed to address the patient's shortcomings. It must be embarked in stages as they progress towards recovery. The results of each stage will indicate how far the training can be taken and how complete the recovery will be. As with all forms of cognitive training, it is important that it is done in a way that the patient will be able to transfer newly relearned skills from the clinical setting back to their home. Improvements and positive results are only worthwhile if they can be repeated in a real world setting. One of the basic keys to retraining is repetition. Relearning a skill by doing it again and again is…

How to Recover Data From a Failed Hard Drive
RecoverySoft / March 14, 2018

When a hard drive fails with data on it that is not backed up, it can be frustrating. Without the data backed up, it has to be physically recovered from the drive itself which won’t read in your computer in it’s current state. The most common option is to use a paid service that recovers data on the drive. This normally costs at least $1000 for a standard drive with an extra fee per gigabyte of recovered data. This process will work, will take a number of weeks at time, but is generally costly. If the data seriously can’t be replaced this is a good option. There is one trick that some do with a drive that is failing. It’s something that you can use at your own risk and doesn’t actually work all the time. If you can’t afford data recovery services and can’t access the drive, there is nothing to lose. Take the hard drive and put it into a sealed bag like a lunch bag. Take this and put it into the freezer for about 24 hours. Take the drive out and instantly connect it to the computer and try to access the drive. The frozen drive…
