Cheap Data Recovery
RecoverySoft / December 2, 2018

The average computer user has only a vague understanding of how their data is stored. They know they have this “hard drive thingy” inside the computer and they know that’s where their data is kept. That’s about as far as it goes for most users. Many don’t even know what a hard drive looks like. However, when you are faced with data loss, you quickly learn a lot about hard drives. Not only do you begin to get an understanding about how complex they are, you also find out how expensive it can be to get your data back. At least once a day customers will ask “Why does it cost so much? I only paid $100 for my hard drive”. Yes, data recovery can be that expensive. My answer is simply this, if you had a million dollars sitting in a $50 safe, and you couldn’t get to it…does it really matter how much you paid for the safe? Data recovery should only be sought, if the value of the data exceeds the cost of the recovery. Data Recovery Costs On average a reputable data recovery company is going to charge anywhere from $400 to $700 for a logical…

How to Retrieve Deleted Files Quickly
RecoverySoft / December 2, 2018

Have you ever deleted something and then instantly knew it was a mistake? Did you know that it is possible to retrieve deleted files? Many people already know that the first stop for a file is in the recycle bin. Maybe you did not know this, but it is very simple to locate your recycle bin and retrieve deleted files from it with a few clicks of your mouse. You simply need to minimize all open windows and programs so your desktop is visible. Now look for the recycle bin icon. Just double click on the icon for recycle bin. It will open, showing you all of your deleted files inside. Looking for your file, highlight it and right click it. You will then see a selection list of four separate choices. If you select "restore", this will move your file back to its previous location. You can still retrieve deleted files that are not in the recycle bin anymore; however, this is a little bit more involved. Once a file is deleted from the bin, the operating system puts it back into free space on your hard drive. It does this by stripping all file extensions and then allocating…

Judgment Recovery And Trusts
RecoverySoft / December 2, 2018

What if you learn that your judgment debtor is a beneficiary of their parent’s trust, and the parent died. Is there anything you can or need to do, besides levying on the trust through the probate trustee? One of many judgment-related articles: I am not a lawyer, and this article is my opinion based on my experience, please consult with a lawyer if you need legal advice. Most often, trusts are handled in probate courts. Trusts are usually not simple, and each state has their own laws concerning trusts. In California, there is probate code 15301, which reads: (a) Except as provided in subdivision (b) and in Sections 15304 to 15307, inclusive, if the trust instrument provides that a beneficiary’s interest in principal is not subject to voluntary or involuntary transfer, the beneficiary’s interest in principal may not be transferred and is not subject to enforcement of a money judgment until paid to the beneficiary. (b) After an amount of principal has become due and payable to the beneficiary under the trust instrument, upon petition to the court under Section 709.010 of the Code of Civil Procedure by a judgment creditor, the court may make an order directing the trustee…

Do Not Toss That Hard Drive!
RecoverySoft / December 2, 2018

Christmas has come and gone, and many of you may have gotten a shiny new computer from Santa Claus this year. But before selling or giving away your old computer, you must prepare the hard drive for disposal. That means properly erasing all your files, to ensure that no confidential or sensitive information remains that is easily accessible. Data is almost always at least partially recoverable. Recently an author bought a hard drive on eBay that had been used by a clinic. It had more than 30,000 credit card numbers on it. Drives purchased this way usually contain confidential data. Deleting your files or even reformatting the hard disk is not sufficient. Why? Your hard disk has an index like the table of contents of a book. Say you do not want Chapter 6 anymore, and you delete it. Your PC just marks Chapt. 6 in the Table of Contents as empty. In other words, the area on the disk occupied by Chapt. 6 is now marked as available for other files. But note that nothing else has happened. The actual data forming Chapt. 6 is still there, happy as a clam, in the same place on the disk. Much…

Judgment Recovery Methods in California
RecoverySoft / December 2, 2018

Judgment recovery methods in California are the topic of this article. This article will discuss some of the more commonly used methods for collecting on an unwanted jurisdiction in the State of California. These are very common as there are estimates stating that approximately 80% of them are never collected. I have been collecting unpaid judgments in California since 1992 when I worked in commercial and industrial property management and over the years I have collected on many both large and small as an employee and as a redemption recovery professional. Anyone who has ever obtained a judgment soon discovers that while the Court may enter it they will not collect it for you. In the real word few debtors if any ever voluntarily pay which makes the judgment creditor liable for collecting the judgment. However the Court will issue certain documents that are very useful in collecting such as writs of execution, abstracts of judgment, order to appear for examination for a judgment debtor, etc. There are two major collection methods that can be used in collecting which are discussed briefly below. Anyone attempting to collect on an unpaid judgment should carefully consider which of the two methods they…
